The Regional Economic Development Boards for Economic Zones 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 have been established to develop, promote and coordinate business and economic initiatives.
The Boards cover the region of the Great Northern Peninsula from Trout River to St. Anthony and Labrador from L’Anse aux Clair to Goose Bay. Transportation links, infrastructure and tourism development have been identified by the five Boards as key components for business development in northern Newfoundland and Labrador.
The completion of the Trans-Labrador Highway and the Quebec North Shore Highway hold significant business opportunities for the Great Northern Peninsula and Labrador.
Opportunities will exist in transportation services, mineral exploration, onshore & offshore oil/gas exploration, forest development, growth of the general service sector and tourism.
The purpose of this initiative was to Identify Business Opportunities and Strategies for the Great Northern Peninsula and in Labrador Resulting From the Completion of the Trans-Labrador Highway.
