PROJECT : Fish Transport

Fish Transport

Summary

Group:NORA - North Atlantic Cooperation (NORA)
Timeframe:Ongoing
Categories:Fisheries
Countries:Faroe Islands | Iceland
Added by:Henrik Jarholm

The increased demand for fresh fish and for the reduction in water and ice volume when transporting fish by air are an increasing challenge in relation to the region’s fish export. In order to cool the fish filets in transport, freezing mats are used. The aim of this project is to further develop these mats, so fish can be cooled down whole during air transport. This is especially useful in the export of salmon, which is usually transported by air.
